alight dance theater NextLOOK Workshop

Alight values the contributions of community members and seeks opportunities to work directly with the community to create movement art. Through the support of the NextLOOK residency, alight will conduct inter-generational, community-based workshops - specifically for parents/guardians and their children - inspired by the concept of “Faerie,” providing inclusive opportunities for varying populations.

Speaking of Books with Dr. Hugo A. Keesing, creator of the box set Battleground Korea

Battleground Korea: Songs And Sounds Of America's Forgotten War is a box set of four CDs offering a genre-spanning gathering of 121 tracks about or inspired by the war, ranging from the likes of blues, country, and R&B. Dr. Hugo A. Keesing, creator of the box set, will present on the music, what it meant for the war, and his research.

Chamber Music Showcase

Hear the young artists of the National Orchestral Institute perform in chamber music groups ranging from percussion ensembles to double-bass sextets and everything in between.  Repertoire to be announced from the stage.

Adelphi Quartet in Concert

Formed at NOI+F in 2017 by cellist and Sphinx Orchestral Futurist Fellow Marza Wilks, this quartet is dedicated to enriching our community through audience engagement.  

Repertoire includes:

Johannes Brahms: String Quartet No. 1 in C minor

TEDxCollegePark

Welcome to the inaugural TEDxCollegePark at the University of Maryland’s Smith Performing Arts Center which will bring in thinkers and doers from all across the globe to Maryland this year.

Our theme is GET OUTside and the event will present a day full of entertainment, ideas and stories that push you to “GET OUTside” physically to appreciate the benefits of being connected outdoors as well as metaphorically to get out of your current mindsets, comfort zones, us versus them mentality and stereotypes.
