HEALTH & SAFETY

Current Audience Expectations

Updated January 14, 2022

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center follows University of Maryland guidance regarding health and safety and UMD follows the guidance of Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland.

Vaccinations

The University of Maryland is a community that requires vaccination and boosters for faculty, staff and students unless they ask for an exception due to medical or religious reasons. Performers have been required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test result.

All patrons 12 years of age and older are required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 48 hours of the performance for entry into the venue (home tests will NOT be accepted).

In addition to a photo ID, patrons must provide one of the following upon entering The Clarice:

  • Picture of COVID-19 Vaccination Card
  • Screenshot of COVID-19 verified immunization record (i.e. from health care provider or pharmacy)
  • Screenshot of test results of negative PCR or rapid antigen test (home tests will NOT be accepted)

In compliance with the most recent Prince George's County mandate, masks are required to be worn indoors, regardless of vaccination status, across campus. This includes students, staff, faculty and visitors, as well as all audience members attending in-person events at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. You may see performers unmasked on stage during Clarice events if they are able to maintain at least 6 feet of social distancingMasks may be removed in the Clarice lobby only while actively eating and drinking. Food and drink are not permitted in performance venues, where masks must be worn at all times.

Spring 2022 Updates

We work closely with UMD’s Health Center, and follow local guidelines from the University of Maryland and Prince George’s County to keep our patrons, staff and performers safe. As circumstances change we will continue to adapt and update our policies, keeping this page up-to-date with the latest information about what to expect during your visit.

In addition to website updates, we’ll be including information in our weekly newsletter about current attendance requirements for in-person events, and will include updated information in the pre-show email for all ticketed events.

With ultimate flexibility in mind, we’re waiving all refund and exchange fees this season. Whether you’re switching your ticket to a digital stream or canceling altogether, simply call or email our ticket office to change your tickets with no additional costs.
