St. Lawrence String Quartet with Osvaldo Golijov • VIRTUAL

The St. Lawrence String Quartet is regretfully unable to perform tonight due to a positive COVID-19 test by a member of the ensemble. The Thalea Quartet, originally scheduled to appear alongside St. Lawrence, will be leading a modified program.

Classically Dope Take 2: UMD Wind Orchestra • IN-PERSON

Rapper, songwriter, educator and Grammy board member Konshens The MC returns to join the UMD Wind Orchestra (UMWO) for another energetic version of his “Classically Dope” mashup of hip-hop meets classical music. Alumnus and horn player Derek Maseloff M.M. ’19 of the former UMD School of Music graduate fellowship wind quintet, Wavelength Winds, will also partner with Konshens The MC.

Point/Counterpoint: UMD Wind Orchestra • IN-PERSON

The culmination of the UMD School of Music’s annual Wind Conducting Workshop, this concert will feature the return of two special guests: orchestral conducting alumnus Jason Fettig M.M. ’05 and Robert Austin Boudreau, acclaimed music director of the American Wind Symphony Orchestra (AWSO). Boudreau served as interim wind ensemble conductor at Maryland prior to the appointment of Michael Votta, Jr.

Golijov, Strauss & Beethoven: UMD Symphony Orchestra • LIVESTREAM

The UMD Symphony Orchestra's (UMSO) season finale will feature Ludwig van Beethoven’s cheerful Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93, the celestial Sidereus by Osvaldo Golijov and Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks by Richard Strauss. In partnership with The Clarice's Visiting Artist Series, Golijov will visit a rehearsal to work directly with the students in preparation for this performance.

Conductors’ Concert: UMD Symphony Orchestra and UMD Wind Orchestra

Join us in person at The Clarice or watch the livestream from the comfort of your home. 

The UMD Symphony Orchestra and UMD Wind Orchestra combine for this concert led by members of the graduate conducting studios. The program will include Gioachino Rossini’s Bassoon Concerto with 2019 Concerto Competition winner and doctoral student "Jimmy" Qun Ren as soloist. Additional concert repertoire coming soon.
