Bring your own harp and join Colombian-born Edmar Castaneda for a class that will be open for musicians trained in both classical and jazz techniques. Castaneda’s virtuosic command of the harp has revolutionized the way audiences and critics alike consider an instrument commonly relegated to the “unusual category” in jazz. Castaneda will share how he realizes beautiful complexities of time while skillfully drawing out lush colors and dynamic spirit in his playing.

On the stairs of The Clarice Grand Pavilion, UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies students will create an interactive wall exhibit where visuals will track audience members as they ascend and descend the stairwell.
