Zodiac Duo: Celestial Sounds

George Crumb's Celestial Mechanics is an iconic avant-garde masterwork for four-hand piano. Crumb's sonic tour-de-force makes the instrument sound in stunning and unimaginable ways: explosions, strange resonances, and cosmic clusters abound in a work that redefines the piano's entire soundscape.
Hart GP Jazz Ensemble plays Art Blakey
Considered to be the cornerstone of the Hard Bop genre and the training grounds for many of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers paved the way for the music of modern jazz. On March 6th at ArtHouse in College Park, Hart Guonjian-Pettit and his ensemble of fellow musicians pay homage to Art Blakey and his legendary band through a performance of selections from the group's standard repertoire. The group will perform compositions by Cedar Walton, Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk among others.

The Bee is open to all 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders in public, private and home school associations.

Dear Colleagues:
Martin Wollesen has served as Executive Director of The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center since 2013 and he will be stepping down from the position effective immediately. As he departs this role, he will remain available to assist the Dean on special arts-related projects through June 2020.
Maryland Cello Ensemble
Featuring all cello music performed by Maryland cellists. The program will be announced from the stage and will include a movement from William Kenlon’s Cello Quartet: Paper Birds.
