Warren Wolf and the Wolfpack

Enthusiastically embracing the traditions of straight-ahead jazz, Warren Wolf leaves quite the impression on the ears of jazz audiences. A local talent from Baltimore with a solid grounding in classical music, Wolf fell in love with jazz and honed his technique at the Berklee College of Music. He has performed and recorded with some of the jazz greats, including Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton and Christian McBride and has several albums of original music.

Australian String Quartet

Dedicated to musical excellence with a distinctly Australian character, the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) has created unforgettable performances for audiences across the globe for more than 30 years, all with the goal of creating chemistry and amplifying intimacy through experiences that connect people. Their distinctive sound is enhanced by a matched set of 18th century Guadagnini instruments, handcrafted between 1743 and 1784 in Turin and Piacenza, Italy.

Big Band Halloween Scream

Screaming saxophones, wailing trumpets and spine-tingling piano are a thrill in this “spirited” evening of performances by the UMD Jazz Ensemble, UMD Jazz Lab Band and University JazzBand.

Tchaikovsky's Fifth: UMD Repertoire Orchestra

The University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra is a unique all-campus orchestra that is open to music majors, non-music majors and members of the University of Maryland community. Led by graduate conducting students at UMD, the orchestra prides itself on a wide range of projects, collaborations and repertoire.

Bach Cantata

A UMD Choral Activities favorite, the Bach Cantata Series explores the more than 200 cantatas written by the great master through informal performances by students, faculty, staff and community friends.

Donny McCaslin Group

Jazz saxophonist Donny McCaslin has a lot to be proud of in his long career. His high-energy, rhythmic, rock-and synth-influenced sound has netted him 11 hit albums and three GRAMMY nominations. But he’s most proud of his group’s intimate collaboration with David Bowie on the artist’s final album, Blackstar. Since then, McCaslin has recorded Beyond Now, anew contemporary jazz album with electronic and synth-pop influences dedicated to Bowie.

35th Annual Choreographers' Showcase

For 35 years, the popular Choreographers’ Showcase has been “a rite of passage in the DC-area dance community” (The Washington Post). This evening of works by new and established choreographers is presented in partnership with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. The Showcase has been inspiring dance audiences and supporting scores of dance makers since1983. In this celebration year, past laureates will converge to honor the influence that the showcase has had on their careers and the dance community.
