Cincinnati Pops Orchestra conductor John Morris Russell, a long-time NOI+F collaborator, opens the 2022 festival with favorites from cinematic music. Sway with Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story” and reach beyond the stars with Michael Giacchino’s Voyage in honor of NASA's 60th anniversary. Internationally renowned Romanian violinist and UMD School of Music associate professor of violin Irina Muresanu also joins this performance for Korngold’s brilliant Violin Concerto.

The annual Do Good Challenge inspires students to make a difference for the issues, ideas, and communities they care about. Students from across campus spend the year advocating, fundraising, volunteering and developing solutions for pressing social issues. The Challenge culminates in a Finals event where six teams pitch their project or venture and the impact they've made for the chance to win a share of more than $20,000.
The festival explores how puppetry is a mind expander, a sparker of creativity, a barrier destroyer and a bridge builder. Given the deep history of puppetry at University of Maryland, we will also examine the resurgence of puppetry in the here and now. Join us for workshops, presentations and opportunities to create.

Ballet Company M will be hosting their Spring Showcase on May 7th, featuring ballet, modern, and jazz choreography and collaborations from multiple members.

The theme of this year's Black Theatre and Dance Symposium (BTDS) is "Resilience: Revive, Restore & Reconnect," dealing with the topic of how we will adapt, revise, move, bend and change to the new normal, with dynamic speakers, conversations and workshops. This year’s keynote speakers are KenYatta and Michelle Rogers, and our workshop leaders include Crystal Davis, Farah Lawal Harris (B.A. Theatre ’08) and Thembi Duncan (B.A. Theatre ’09).
