2022 College of Arts & Humanities Convocation

The college will formally welcome new students, faculty and staff; recognize faculty who received tenure and/or promotion and celebrate service award recipients. Legendary American soprano and beloved Professor of Voice and Opera Carmen Balthrop ’71 passed away on September 5, 2021, at age 73 following a yearlong battle with cancer. She taught for the UMD School of Music for 36 years. Read the In Memoriam article on the UMD School of Music's website.
