Iktus Flute/Percussion Duo

Join the Iktus Flute/Percussion Duo for an adventurous program that includes works ranging from Bach to Ravi Shankar.

Based in New York City, Iktus Percussion is an ambitious, dynamic young ensemble committed to expanding the boundaries of the percussion genre. The Iktus Duo, featuring flutist Hristina Blagova and percussionist Christopher Graham, won the 2014 Ackerman Chamber Music Competition. They have performed at the Con Vivo New Music Series in New Jersey, Bulgarian Consulate of NYC and Spectrum NYC.

UMD Wind Ensemble: Recoil

Rhythmic, bold and explosive, Schwantner's Recoil exploits the vast tone colors of an expanded percussion section and amplified piano. Adler’ Southwestern Sketches conveys the Southwest region of the United States, a culture Adler describes “as fast-changing as the weather.”

A bridge woven by cameras, lights, speakers, hundreds of text messages and e-mails, dozens of tongues lighting the path, images not flickering but incarnating a beating heart that’s a continent or a nation away, just a few feet in front of you.

I was surprised how intimate the set up was, there was no room to be self-conscious since the only thing I saw was a full-body image of Miguel Angel. That way, I was completely focused and invested in him, instead of being consumed with my appearance or demeanor.
