In this poetic and visceral song cycle, Shakespeare’s darkly tragic King Lear is distilled to its musical essence. Movement, words and choral songs performed in Latin, Polish and English render the iconic story of a man who loses everything that defines him.

College Park Youth Orchestra Spring Concert

The College Park Youth Orchestra, with more than 80 string musicians from across the region, is playing its annual spring concert with performances by the Primary Ensemble, Intermediate Ensemble, and Chamber Ensemble.

Music in Mind: Four Strings Around the World- A Global Tableau of Solo Violin Repertoire

Experience a fantastic journey around the globe through a violin recital with a theatrical twist.  Four Strings around the World for solo violin features works inspired by the composers’ own ethnic heritage and expresses a variety of musical cultures and performance techniques.  Featured are Bach’s Chaconne and Paganini’s Caprice No. 24, as well as two new works commissioned especially for this program by Indian composer Shirish Korde and Native American composer Jerod “Impichchaachaaha’” Tate.

NextNOW Fest kicks off the school year and The Clarice’s 2016–2017 season with a creative welcome and welcome back for Terps. Experience two days of nonstop music, theatre and dance performances and immersive, technology-driven installations by artists from around campus and the country.

Youth Orchestra Day Performance

Joining the National Orchestral Institute is an aspirational achievement for young performers across the nation and here in our community. In launching Youth Orchestra Day at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, top musicians from the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras, DC Youth Orchestra Program, and the McLean Youth Orchestra join with members of NOI for a day of uplifting mentorship through side-by-side rehearsals and sectionals led by NOI members and guest conductors.
