Henri Dutilleux, Playing with Time

Music exists only in time, but music can also play games with our perception of time. French music specialist Dr. Caroline Potter lectures about how this temporal play was central to the aesthetic of the great French composer Henri Dutilleux and discusses the influence of literary and musical models on his work.

41st Annual Edward M. Felegy Honor Concert

Prince George County Public Schools’ Music Enrichment Program provides instrumental and choral music instruction at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. The program enriches students’ lives with musical knowledge and enthusiasm, as well as a better understanding of the personal commitment required to be successful. Dedicated music teachers, students and parents all contribute to this exemplary program. This year’s culminating concert features the High School Honors Band, Senior Youth Orchestra and the High School Honors Chorus.

Masterful Strings: Masterclass with Miriam Fried, violin

School of Music violin students refine their technique and artistry with former first violinist of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, Miriam Fried.

Fried has played with virtually every major orchestra in the United States and Europe and has been a frequent guest with the principal orchestras of Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, as well as with the Israel Philharmonic, the London Symphony, the Royal Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony.
