Copland, Gershwin, & Bernstein

In our continuing celebration of Leonard Bernstein at 100, James Judd conducts Bernstein's Songfest which was written as a tribute to the 1976 American Bicentennial and premiered in Washington, DC. Combining poetry from the likes of Frank O'Hara, Walt Whitman, Langston Hughes, and Gertrude Stein, the work draws a picture of America's past as seen through the eyes of an artist.  

Brahms' First

Internationally celebrated as a vibrant ambassador for music and an inspiring artistic leader, Ms. Falletta has conducted many of the world’s finest orchestras. Her program with the NOI Philharmonic includes Edward Elgar’s In the South and Johannes Brahms’ First Symphony.

Cyro Baptista: Family Art Day

The immensely creative Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista has collaborated with some of the greatest musicians on the planet. His own ensemble is a wild, unstoppable world beat percussive band that blends untamed percussion, tap dance, martial arts, samba, jazz, rock and funk. The musicians hail from all over the world, wear wild costumes and frequently leave their instruments to break into spontaneous dance. Join us for a special family-friendly performance by this popular band preceded by hands-on musical activities for kids and parents. Lunch will be provided.

Milk x Honey: Artist Series

Milk x Honey is a monthly performance series held at the MilkBoy ArtHouse. Hosted by the University of Maryland's Terpoets, this series strives to create a safe community for the creators of all medias and curate a unique artistic experience by showcasing the exceptional talent in the College Park area! Doors open at 6:30 PM.

Korey Richardson: Artist Talk & Reception

Join us for an artist talk and reception for Trail & Tribe, the newest exhibit at MilkBoy ArtHouse, featuring work by Korey Richardson.

Korey Richardson is a painter and printmaker, creating work that includes themes related to history, popular culture and identity. His structures, compositions and figures are inspired by the traditional expression and connection to the study of the African Diaspora and is also stylistically inspired by street art.

Rip the Floor 2018

Dynamic dance team presents the 2018 Rip the Floor Competition! Enjoy a night of amazingly talented showcasing and competing teams on April 15, 2018.

New Play Workshop

The TDPS New Play Workshop is an opportunity for actors to work with a director and playwright on the development of a brand new 10-minute play over the course of one week,culminating in a staged reading for an audience. Students will not be asked to memorize the scripts because the playwright will be rewriting throughout the week. Instead, students will bring their own creativity and generous collaboration into the room and contribute to the development of a brand new character and story.

Double Reed Day

Join UMD School of Music professors Mark Hill, Joey Grimmer, Erich Heckscher and Special Guest Artist and Clinician William Winstead for a day of inspiring and informative masterclasses, performances, and discussions at the University of Maryland Double Reed Day Workshop. 

The day will include faculty and student performances, master classes, presentations on instrument maintenance, and availability of vendors of instruments and musical supply.
