Small chamber groups of students perform repertoire for strings, woodwinds, brass and piano.
The culmination of rehearsal and coaching during the semester, this concert is an integral part of coursework for UMD School of Music students and provides a glimpse into the training they receive for performing in major ensembles.

Common Tone: AMPLIFIED
Performed with bold visual projections, AMPLIFIED is a dynamic program featuring the collaboration of electronic music and acoustic instrumentation through original compositions and contemporary classical music. The program features Steve Reich's "Different Trains" and original compositions by members of rogue collective.
UMD Korean Percussion Ensemble
Come enjoy a performance by the UMD Korean Percussion Ensemble! See how Maryland students perform on traditional Korean instruments: the changgo (hourglass drum), the buk (barrel drum), the jing (large gong) and kweanngarri (small gong). They will perform what they have been learning during this semester.
In addition, there will be special guest performances by Washington Samulnori and also by Ms. SooKyung Jung, who will showcase additional forms of Korean traditional performing art!
This concert is sure to energize and inspire!

Berndt Thurner, vibraphone
Austrian percussionist Berndt Thurner performs Stuart Saunder Smith's New England for solo vibraphone.
Berndt Thurner is a percussionist of remarkable breadth who is equally at home as a soloist and in an ensemble setting. Thurner´s musicality is influenced by his passionate travels to regions all over the world, voyages from which he returns with impressions and musical instruments alike. He has made appearances at many important new music festivals all over the world. He performs frequently with several noteworthy european ensembles for contemporary music.
