Choro das 3

Choro das 3 is a vibrant and virtuosic all-female instrumental ensemble. These three young, talented sisters play in seamless harmony, carrying on the rich tradition of Brazil’s first popular music Choro. Choro das 3 is a family-based band composed of three sisters: Corina (flutes), Lia (7 string acoustic guitar) and Elisa (mandolin, clarinet, banjo, and piano) with their father, Eduardo (pandeiro).

Opera Resonates: La clemenza di Tito

Join Craig Kier, Director of the Maryland Opera Studio, and Evangeline Athanasiou, M.A. in Musicology Graduate Student, as they discuss the musical and historical significance of La clemenza di Tito.  Mozart’s final staged work proves as revelatory and thought provoking today, some 225 years after its 1791 premiere. Refreshments will be available.

FAME Jazz Ensemble

Enjoy the sounds of FAME Jazz Ensemble over Sunday afternoon brunch!

The FAME Jazz Ensemble consists of elite high school musicians from The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc. (FAME). Ensemble members share their exceptional talent at private and public performances throughout the United States and serve as FAME ambassadors. The musical director is recording artist and Berklee College of Music graduate Reginald Payne.

Cost of food and beverage is not included in the ticket price.

Rob Curto's Forro For All

When master accordion player Rob Curto’s Forró For All hits the stage, the music will move you! Rob's forró music is an easy and fun two-step country dance popular in Brazil’s northeastern region.

Rob Curto’s Forró For All trio will be joined on stage by special guest singers Jo Silva Silva and Cissa Paz music.

Tamara Wilson, soprano: Weightless Dreams

A 2017-2018 University of Maryland School of Music Artist in Residence and 2016 Richard Tucker Award Winner, soprano Tamara Wilson appears in recital with pianist Justina Lee. Wilson explores the works of Fanny Mendelssohn, Marx, Debussy, Fauré, Copland and Barber in the premiere of her song recital program, “Weightless Dreams."

Hate and bias are persistent global problems. What does it look like to engage in courageous conversations that speak to these difficult realities across personal, political, and historical frames? This year’s College Arts and Humanities (ARHU) Dean’s Lecture Series (DLS) is an opportunity for the campus to join together for provocative conversations about these issues across disciplines.
