The Clarice supports artists in their quest for a connection with audiences through its engagement work. This support happens by illustrating and animating the creative process with activities both on the UMD campus and in our creative radius. Creative Dialogues provide context for the issues addressed through the artistic work of its partners by encouraging a rigorous exchange of ideas and active participation between artists and audiences.

These conversations are characterized by facilitated audience interactions with artists, scholars, and community leaders that are focused on process and research rather than product and performance.

DeanTalks are intimate lunchtime conversations between Bonnie Thornton Dill, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, and global artists presented by The Clarice’s Artist Partner Program. Targeting graduate and undergraduate students from the college, these events will feature food native to the artist's home country served in a family-style meal, designed to encourage informal and authentic interactions.

ArtistTalks is for audiences of all ages who are curious about what inspires artists to make work that is informed by a particular subject matter. These talks will include multiple, sometimes conflicting, perspectives represented by UMD faculty and community members from The Clarice’s creative radius.

InnovatorTalks will feature locally-based artists who connect their commitment to social change and their creative passion and will happen at sites in the creative radius of The Clarice that are familiar and accessible to artists of many disciplines.
