Orchestra Concerto Competition Prelims

Join the search for the UMD Symphony Orchestra’s next featured soloist. In the first round of this exciting competition, UMD School of Music students perform concerto excerpts or concert pieces for an independent jury panel. With each round of the competition, the field narrows until the final round, when a winner and runners-up are announced.

Experience the full splendor of spring and explore dark corridors with magic behind every door in the University Orchestra's first concert of the season! This delightful program takes listeners on a journey through realms of fantasy and youth, with works by Strauss, Brahms, Mahler and Williams.

Music That Moves Us: UMD Wind Ensemble

UMWE opens its season with a concert featuring works by Work, Françaix and more! Included on the program is Katahj Copley's DOPE, a piece of which UMWE was a part of the commissioning consortium! A vibrant composition that explores the relationships between Copley's Rap, R & B, Jazz, Soul and Classical influences, DOPE draws on inspiration Thundercat to Kendrick Lamar.
