A 2017-2018 University of Maryland School of Music Artist in Residence and 2016 Richard Tucker Award Winner, soprano Tamara Wilson appears in recital with pianist Justina Lee. Wilson explores the works of Fanny Mendelssohn, Marx, Debussy, Fauré, Copland and Barber in the premiere of her song recital program, “Weightless Dreams."

UMD School of Music Launches Competition to Write Your Own Lyrics to State Songs

The University of Maryland School of Music in the College of Arts and Humanities is launching a university-wide competition that invites UMD students to write lyrics to the tune of the state song “Maryland, My Maryland.” The competition asks students to craft lyrics that express the pride they feel for the State of Maryland.

'Tis the Season: The Richard Payne Trio & The FAME Jazz Band

This annual holiday event features international recording artists, The Richard Payne Trio (Richard Payne, piano, Rudy Spruill, bass and Roderick Johnson, drums), with a special blend of jazz, gospel and classical music. Special guests include the celebrated FAME Jazz Band, Divine Dance Institute and Largo High School Choir.

Renegade Series: Sarah Robinson, flute

Flutist and author of Clubbing for Classical Musicians, Dr. Sarah Robinson, demonstrates in this flute and electronics performance how classical music can rock any kind of alternative space. 

Sarah is a flutist for Helix Collective, a Los Angeles-based ensemble that specializes in multi-media, collaborative performance and recording. Playing with orchestras and rock bands everywhere from Disney Hall to the legendary Troubador rock club, Sarah has also performed on the scores for television shows, commercials and over 20 films.
