Faculty Dance Concert

The Faculty Dance Concert showcases the eloquent and provocative choreography of featured Dance faculty members and special guests. Through gesture and verse, meaning through motion, this collection of dances will captivate and inspire.

With Gratitude

Under the leadership of newly appointed Associate Director of Bands Andrea Brown, the University of Maryland Wind Ensemble (UMWE) serves as a training ground for talented young wind players. With a focus on student performers, UMWE presents an exciting season of the best traditional and contemporary wind ensemble literature.

Program features John Mackey's Frozen Cathedral

UMD Percussion Ensemble Concert

Usually positioned at the back of the orchestra, members of the percussion section move center stage to reveal the colorful, melodic potential of their instruments in this striking concert of contemporary music.

Directed by Dr. Lee Hinkle, the University of Maryland Percussion Ensemble performs chamber music composed primarily for percussion and mallet instruments. Repertoire of historical importance is performed along with contemporary works, transcriptions of classical works and repertoire involving solo instruments with the ensemble.

Winter Big Band Showcase

This annual, toe-tapping concert really swings. Director Chris Vadala brings together the UMD Jazz Ensemble, the UMD Jazz Lab Band and the University Jazz Band in innovative interpretations of classic and contemporary jazz works.

Honors Chamber Music Recital

At a chamber music concert, ensembles showcase gorgeous tone and vivid emotion. This faculty-curated program features exceptional ensembles from the UMD School of Music’s chamber music program.

Chamber music is at the core of the School of Music’s curriculum. The leadership and communication skills essential to its performance, when applied to large ensemble settings, empower musicians and lead to  outstanding performances.

Maryland Gospel Choir Concert

Since its founding in 1975, hundreds of voices have joined together to share joyous music through College Park’s very own gospel choir. The group is committed to encouraging fellowship and community service.
