Selected chapbooks from the Jiménez Porter Writers’ House and zines from the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library’s Special Collections in Performing Arts will be on display. Take a moment to read others' stories, and maybe even perform someone else's words using the Visual Poetry Synthesizer!

The Unity Mural project has brought together students and faculty from Bowie State University and University of Maryland to create a mural that takes a stand against divisiveness and reflects upon themes of peace, justice and unity. View the installation, watch a 20-minute documentary about the creation process, and engage in a lively discussion about the mural’s significance.

Conceived and produced by ARTECHOUSE with the assistance of digital media artist Simon Alexander-Adams, Lucid Dreaming immerses the attendees of the festival in vibrant projections of fluid, ethereal motion that echo the movement of their bodies. The interactive motion systems seamlessly capture the movement of the viewer’s hand, allowing them to direct the flow of projected imagery.

Takoma Park’s own Dance Exchange brings awareness to the stories of sexual violence and abuse survivors. "A body, home" is a multimedia, intergenerational dance piece on sexual violence performed in the back of a moving truck. The performance asks audiences to consider: What does it take to move from past traumas? What needs to get packed and unpacked in the process? What is the world that we are moving towards?

Often, art is considered the safe space for dangerous ideas. JPEGMAFIA is a reminder that in a dangerous world, sometimes nowhere is safe. If trap music is the sound of the street, then JPEGMAFIA is trap’s subconscious; dark but not without a humor that makes things even more uncomfortable. His role as villain or satirist, hood protector or nihilist is intentionally hard to put one’s finger on. What more appropriate way to embody the frightening and confusing reality of America today?
