NOI+F Expands Initiative to Increase Representation in Orchestral Repertoire
Tayo Omisore & Mike Hauser
NextNOW Fest curator Kira Peck hosts a performance by musician and spoken word artist Tayo Omisore and guitarist and vocalist Mike Hauser.
Tayo Omisore is a Nigerian-American creative from Baltimore, MD who meshes music and visual media in novel and inventive ways as a means to tell intimate stories investigating identity, sexuality and relationships. After participating on American Idol and opening for the likes of 2 Chainz, Drake Bell, and Vacationer, Mike Hauser has made a name for himself in the music industry, cultivating a passionate fan base in the DC area.
Waterbending 101

Caught up on “Avatar: The Last Airbender?” Try waterbending for yourself! In this workshop, NextNOW Fest curator Marjorie Antonio ’22 will share her watercoloring tips and tricks as you explore the fantastical fauna of the Four Nations.
Get your scrolls ready for a brief introduction to watercolor techniques and a live demonstration that will flow right through time.
Black Folks Don’t Swim?
With a genre-defying, expansive sound, Black Folks Don't Swim? is a world-based Black Queer-led movement of musicians, songwriters, composers and activists generating comfortable spaces for all to come together and feel uplifted through music.
After their electric performance at NextNOW Fest 2019, the band returns for the closing night of NextNOW SummerFest. Be sure to also join us after the livestream performance for a post-performance conversation!

Support local artists by drifting into a dreamy Midsummer Night! Hosted by NextNOW Fest curator John Smith ’21, this showcase features campus and community artists across different genres, including various styles of music, poetry, comedy and visual art.

NOI+F at Home: Creative Responses - Orchestral Futurist Fellows
The National Orchestral Institute + Festival's Orchestral Futurist Fellowship in partnership with the Sphinx Organization combines arts administration, orchestral performance, festival curation and community engagement. This fellowship provides a launching pad for The Sphinx Organization’s most talented musicians, and ensures that together, both organizations further advance the power of diversity in the arts.
