2018 Schedule of Events

Arts-On-A-Roll Van activities on Front Plaza

Join us for a fun, free crafting session with Arts on a Roll! Make a mask of your favorite character from the Peter and the Wolf story and take it with you to the orchestral performance and then home for more fun.

The van will be here before and after the National Orchestra Institute + Festival performance of Peter and the Wolf.

Arts on a Roll is a program of the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Do Good Dialogue: Artmaking as an Actionable tool

wild Up is a band of Los Angeles musicians committed to creating visceral, thought-provoking happenings. The group, led by artistic director and conductor Christopher Rountree, unites around the belief that no music is off limits, and that a concert space should be as moving as the music heard in it: small, powerful and unlike anything else.

Music+Innovation

The National Orchestral Institute and Festival joins with the UMD Academy for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to launch Music+Innovation, a place where musicians join with creative innovators to examine, rethink and renovate the orchestral experience. Intrigued? So are we!

See NOI musicians close-up and personal in the brand new MilkBoy ArtHouse on Route 1! Come hear live chamber music classics, klezmer music, creative improvisation and more! Food and drinks for sale, street and lot parking available.

Open Masterclass with Asher Fisch and Wolf Trap Opera

Renowned for his work in opera houses around the world, maestro Asher Fisch coaches the Filene Young Artists from Wolf Trap Opera in selections from the opera repertory.

The National Orchestral Institute + Festival brings together aspiring orchestral musicians from across the country for a month of dynamic music-making and professional exploration. Chosen by a rigorous, cross-country audition process, these young artists present passionate and awe-inspiring performances of adventuresome repertoire at The Clarice and in the community.

Songwriting Workshop Featuring Eric Roberson

Aspiring Middle and High School songwriters are invited to join Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Eric Roberson and members of his multi-talented band for a fun-filled day of music making.
