Filled with delicate textures and subtle harmonies, Fauré's masterpiece is simple and inspirational music that is quintessentially French. Rounding out this performance is Beethoven's Choral Fantasy for chorus, orchestra, vocal soloists, and solo piano. Through its juxtaposition of themes from his lied Gegenliebe and the Emperor concerto, the Choral Fantasy takes listeners through a fascinating journey that foreshadows Beethoven's grand Symphony No. 9.
