Drawing influences from both Indonesian folk ritual idioms and western metal bands, Senyawa's unusual sound reinvents the Javanese spiritual tradition of entering trance through dance and music by fusing hand-made electric string instruments with operatic melodies, metal vocals and contemporary choreography.
