Somewhere in America, an army of pre-teen competitive dancers plots to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they’ll claw their way to the top at the Boogie Down Grand Prix in Tampa Bay. But in Clare Barron’s raucous pageant of ambition and ferocity, these young dancers have more than choreography on their minds, because every plié and jeté is a step toward finding themselves, and a fight to unleash their power.
In this collaborative concert, School of Music students will play alongside the Saint-Omer Wind Orchestra from Northern France. This performance is part of an exchange program between Saint-Omer and the State of Maryland to celebrate 300 years of French-American history and culture.
As part of the "Year of Immigration" series, the University of Maryland is proud to present the screening of "THE UNAFRAID," a feature length documentary that follows the personal lives of three DACA students in Georgia, a state that has banned them from attending their top state universities and disqualifies them from receiving in-state tuition at any other public college.

The annual, campus-wide Do Good Challenge inspires students to pursue fearless ideas, spark innovative solutions, and create social impact for today's most pressing problems. The Challenge has addressed issues from food insecurity in Prince George's County to the provision of emergency services to orphanages in Nepal, from climate change to childhood cancer, from medication recovery and delivery to residents in Ghana and Honduras to the creation of an emergency fall detection device, and so much more.
