About the Role
Do you love the arts? Are you looking to learn more about marketing and communications? Become a UMD Arts Ambassador! Under the leadership of the College of Arts and Humanities (ARHU) Marketing Communications staff, the UMD Arts Ambassadors execute promotional grassroots efforts on campus and throughout College Park. Events you will promote include those presented by the College of Arts and Humanities; the School of Music; the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies; and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center’s artistic platform: Clarice Presents. In this position, you will learn about different marketing and communications tactics in direct collaboration with ARHU staff. Familiarity or expertise in engaging with niche student communities is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the creation of grassroots marketing plans to maximize promotional efforts among UMD’s student body
- Staff informational booths at fairs and festivals, both on campus and in College Park
- Share collateral along established distribution routes, which include local businesses, residence halls, academic halls, galleries and satellite arts venues
- Collaborate in monthly UMD Arts Ambassadors meetings with ARHU staff
- Participate in activities that include speaking at freshman life classes, focus groups and marketing ideation sessions
- Support festivals on campus and at The Clarice
- Administrative support as appropriate
Compensation
- $15/Hour for 10-20 Hours/Week
