Audition for the 35th Annual Choreographers Showcase
Auditions for the 35th Annual Choreographers Showcase are now open to all dance-makers, aged 18 years and older, who live in Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia. Live auditions will be adjudicated by expert panelists, Nelly van Bommel and Nejla Y. Yatkin. Six finalists will be selected to present their work in concert on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at 3 and 8 PM.
Auditions will be held in the Dance Theatre at The Clarice, on Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 from 10 AM to 6 PM. Apply online now to reserve an audition slot at arts.pgparks.com.

Adjudicators
Nelly van Bommel, a French native of Dutch descent, was selected as one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in January 2010. She is an award-winning choreographer whose work has been featured in France, Taiwan, Canada, and the U.S. in major festivals and venues. Nelly is currently Associate Professor of Dance and Interim Director, Conservatory of Dance, Purchase College. “Nelly van Bommel’s choreography magically teeters between tragedy and comedy, classical and folk, serenity and wildness” — Dance Magazine
Nejla Y. Yatkin is a recipient of the Works In Process Award from the Princess Grace Foundation, a 2012 Arts Fellow for Choreography National Performance Network Creation Fund recipient as well as was a 2008 Princess Grace Choreography Fellow. In her choreography, she explores the beauty as well as complexity of memory, migration, transformation, identity and multiculturalism through movement. In 2005, she was named as one of Top 25 to watch by Dance Magazine and was given the award for Outstanding Emerging Artist by the D.C. Mayor Arts Award Committee. For her choreography, Nejla was three times selected to be part of the Choreographers Showcase (2001, 2003, 2005).
