M-NCPPC Summer Camp

Summer is a time to have fun with friends, explore the world and try new activities!

M-NCPPC’s Department of Parks and Recreation offers you plenty of summer options. Choose from more than 670 camp sessions throughout Prince George’s County, including four camps held here at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

Camp Locations

All camps take place in the Prince George’s County Room at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

Camp Times

  • Core Camp Hours: Monday–Friday, 9AM–4:30PM
  • Before Care: Monday–Friday, 7–9AM
  • After Care: Monday–Friday, 4:30–6PM

M-NCPPC's Department of Parks and Recreation manages all aspects of the camps, including registration.

Arts Camp: Exploring Theater Arts

Monday, June 20 – Friday, July 1, 2016
Ages 8–11

An acting boot camp for young performers who want to sharpen their theater skills and increase their confidence while having fun. Activities will include improv, creative dramatics, theater games, and introduction to scriptwriting, and prop and costume making. On the final day of the session, campers perform their original material for family and friends in the evening. Campers should have a genuine interest in performing and be able to concentrate for long periods of time.

Arts Camp: Making a Musical

July 5 – July 15, 2016
Ages 8–11

For those who dream of being on stage. Act in an age-appropriate musical play, and learn about musical theater, acting, singing, movement, costumes and scenery. On the final day of the session, campers perform for family and friends in the evening. Recreational activities also included. Campers should have a genuine interest in performing and be able to concentrate for long periods of time.

Art Camp: Performing Arts Workshop

July 18 – July 29, 2016
Ages 11–15

Teens who have an interest in theatre production — drama, dancing, singing, costumes and sets — will work from a written script, with classes in all aspects of the performing arts needed to produce a play/musical. There will be a final performance for family and friends on the last Friday evening of each session. No experience is necessary, but campers should have a genuine interest in performing and be able to concentrate for long periods of time. Recreation activities will be limited.

Art Camp: Comedy Arts

August 1 – August 12
Ages 11–15

Show me the funny! Teens with an interest in the comedy arts can participate in this two week intensive program, while learning what makes us laugh. Campers will participate in units focusing on Stand-up Comedy, Clowning and Improvisational exercises. There will be a final performance for family and friends on the last Friday evening of the camp session. No experience is necessary, but campers should have a genuine interest in performing and be able to concentrate for long periods of time.
