Hailed as “brilliant, virtuosic, and still mellow” (Los Angeles Times), the dynamos of the Brentano Quartet treat masterpieces with reverence and enthusiasm, rendering performances with equal passion and precision. Since forming at The Juilliard School in 1992, the Brentano Quartet has recorded numerous gold-standard performances of Schubert, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Haydn and has won prestigious awards including the first Cleveland Quartet Award and the Naumburg Chamber Music Award. A crucial note of distinction for Brentano has been a sharp eye for cohesive if counterintuitive programs.
Haydn: Quartet in C-Major, Op. 33, No. 3, "The Bird"
Golijov: Ever Yours ft. Thalea Quartet
Dvořák Quartet in Ab-Major, Op 105
Their music-making is private, delicate and fresh, but by its very intimacy and importance it seizes attention.” –The New York Times
PLEASE NOTE: St. Lawrence String Quartet was originally scheduled to perform this event. The St. Lawrence String Quartet has been deeply moved by the tremendous outpouring of love and support from the musical community following the death of their beloved partner and violinist Geoff Nuttall. St. Lawrence String Quartet has decided to create necessary space to grieve, process and reflect, and will not be performing concerts during this period. They appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time, and will issue a further statement when their future plans have clarified.
