NextLOOK: Orange Grove Dance: The One-Mile Radius Project: Experiencing Space Differently (OFF-SITE)
Our human imprint and the memory of our movement linger in spaces well after we have migrated through them. The One-Mile Radius Project explores these imprints and the unique spaces within a one-mile radius of Joe’s Movement Emporium. In collaboration with Joe’s, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Brentwood Arts Exchange and their workshop participants, Orange Grove Dance will investigate the personal and uniquely traversed spaces of the community.
NextLOOK: Flying V It's the Rest of the World that Looks So Small: A Theatrical Review of Jonathan Coulton (OFF-SITE)
Residency at Joe's Movement Emporium: November 14-18, 2016
Daraja Ensemble: American Inspired
Daraja performs uniquely original works by American composers that reflect the spirit of our culture: individualistic expression, diversity and cultural assimilation.
Daraja Ensemble Recital #2
Daraja has the distinct honor to share the stage with faculty member Rita Sloan for Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds. Also featured on the program are a fascinating but rather unknown quintet by the 20th-century Norwegian composer Johan Kvandal, a transcription of a Bach Sinfonia in b minor from his Cantata BWV 209 “Non sa che sia dolore,” and the final quintet of Franzi Danzi, Op. 68 no.3 in d minor.
Maryland Day
Maryland Day has become one of the most popular annual events in the region as the University of Maryland opens up its campus offering more than 400 free events. Throughout Maryland’s 1,250-acre campus, visitors can take tours, explore exhibits and attend demonstrations. The Clarice's stages, studios and shops host interactive, participatory arts events for the entire family and for prospective students. Come find out why UMD and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center are increasingly known as a place of innovation, creativity and social change.
UMD Repertoire Orchestra Concert
The University of Maryland Repertoire Orchestra is a unique all-campus orchestra that is open to music majors, non-music majors and members of the University of Maryland community. Led by graduate conducting students at UMD, the orchestra prides itself on a wide range of projects, collaborations and repertoire.
