NextNOW Fest: GradTerp Crafting Sessions–Paper Quilling Workshop

Paper quilling is the art of cutting paper into long thin strips, rolling and pinching the pieces into different shapes, and then gluing the shapes together to form decorative art.

Each workshop will last 90 minutes. All supplies are included. Registration begins via TerpLink on Monday, August 28, 2023; limited space available. Only open to current UMD graduate students. This event will take place at Stamp Student Union in the Charles Carroll A 2203K room.

NextNOW Fest: Silent Disc-Glo

An ongoing partnership with Student Entertainment Events (SEE), the Silent Disc-Glo is a dance party, but with a twist! Through a set of wireless headphones, listen to one of three live DJs (including one from Terrapin Record Label!), all playing totally different musical styles. This silent dance party is surreal, bizarre and outrageously fun.

No entry will be permitted after 12:30AM.

NextNOW Fest: "Ponyo" Film Screening

Loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson's "The Little Mermaid," Ponyo is a magical celebration of innocent love and the fragile beauty of the natural world. The daughter of the sea goddess Gran Mamare and the alchemist Fujimoto, Ponyo begins life as an adventurous little goldfish. Chafing at her father's restrictions, she goes in search of adventure and meets Sosuke, a good-natured 5-year-old who lives by the sea. Sosuke adopts Ponyo and quickly wins her heart. Fujimoto uses magic to bring her back, but Ponyo's love for Sosuke proves stronger than his elixirs.

NextNOW Fest: Raveena

For Raveena, music is meant to be a “complete expression of the self.” It’s a truth she’s leaned on through a whirlwind couple of years, which saw a potent flurry of output and a pointed ascent into the conversation with her critically-acclaimed 2019 debut full-length, "Lucid," and 2020 follow-up, "Moonstone" EP.
