As part of his weeklong artistic residency at the UMD School of Music, Jason Ferdinand D.M.A. '15 gives a public lecture on what musicians can offer a world now largely devoid of music making.

Ferdinand is professor of music at Oakwood University and the director of the internationally acclaimed Oakwood Aeolians. He is also the founder and conductor of the professional choral ensemble, The Jason Max Ferdinand Singers. He received his D.M.A. in choral conducting from UMD in 2015. Choirs under his direction have won top prizes in multiple international competitions, appeared by invitation at professional music conferences and made multiple acclaimed recordings. Ferdinand is in great demand as a guest conductor and clinician both nationally and internationally and is the editor of the "Jason Max Ferdinand Choral Series" published by Walton Music. He is the author of the volume, "Teaching with Heart: Tools for Addressing Societal Challenges through Music" published by GIA.
