Join us for an opening reception for the latest exhibit at MilkBoy ArtHouse. Curated by Tomora Wright, Her Colors: Fixation to Liberation features work by Margo Elsayd, Rose Jaffe, Taryn Harris and Jewel Ham.

In Her Colors, four women artists use color, shape, material, improvisation and the freedom of impulse to share their perspectives. Both the abstract and figurative artists in this show present styles that challenge limitations and structures. Through either color expression or lack of color, the artist reclaims her narrative and embraces her unapologetic impulse to express. The breadth of these expressions challenges the idea of a homogenous female experience: Instead of being of one uniform color palette, the female experience is varied, complex and abstract.

Contemporary artists continue to inspire new ways to communicate and understand each other beyond words. We ask that you shed any fixed understandings of gender roles and experiences to experience the varied nature of improvisational color expression through a woman’s lens.
