Program Notes:

Under the baton of interim music director José-Luis Novo, the UMD Symphony Orchestra presents Mozart's Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio, Gabriela Lena Frank's Three Latin American Dances and Strauss' Death and Transfiguration.

Come early for an engaging pre-concert conversation exploring how Strauss, Frank and Mozart, creatively used the instruments of the orchestra to conjure images of home, fantasy, death and the eternal.

This event is part of the Year of Immigration, which aims to transform dialogue into impact on urgent issues related to immigration, global migration and refugees, and to foster open conversation and greater connection with the University of Maryland’s large and diverse international community.
