ABOUT THE EVENT

This fall, the Stamp Gallery is pleased to present The Digital Landscape, a group exhibition of artists using a variety of technological media to both reinterpret and understand the physical environment as well as the ways in which the digital landscape is overlaid with the physical. Through their engagement with mediums from animation to augmented reality, machine learning, video, and photography the artists expand our sense of time and space through our digital experiences. These artworks examine and interact with the ways in which our digital environments are socially constructed, just as our ideas about borders, identity, and even what constitutes “nature” are products of historically determined systems.

Featuring Mollye Bendell, Ally Christmas, Chris Combs, Billy Friebele, Michelle Lisa Herman, and Kat Navarro.

This exhibition and related programming is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

ABOUT NEXTNOW FEST

Started in 2014, Clarice Presents’ annual NextNOW Fest is an inspiring arts experience that celebrates imagination, creativity and community. In addition to the core festival nights at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, we’re thrilled to continue partnerships with student-led groups, academic departments and university-based arts venues to hold festival events throughout campus.

NextNOW Fest is a signature event in University of Maryland's Arts for All initiative, which leverages the combined power of the arts, technology and social justice to address the grand challenges of our time.

FUNDING

NextNOW Fest is supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation.
