ABOUT THE EVENT
Wealth. Fame. Power. Julius Caesar, Dread Captain of the Pirate Republic of Rome, attained all this and more. Now his enemies fear he will crown himself King of the Pirates. On the sandy shores of Rome, in the island's dark alleys, and in its dingy bars, a conspiracy forms against the Dread Captain as storms brew on the horizon.
The Maryland Shakespeare Players are proud to present their adaptation of Julius Caesar. Set in the Caribbean in the midst of the Golden Age of Piracy, Director Liam O'Donoghue offers a vision of Shakespeare's work inspired by media like Our Flag Means Death, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and Pirates of the Caribbean, as well as the rich history of the period.
We hope you will join us in the Cafritz Foundation Theater for a story of conspiracy, betrayal, and adventure on the high seas.
If you are unable to join us in the Cafritz, we invite you to watch a livestream of each evening's performance: https://go.umd.edu/MDSPJuliusCaesar
