The British village of Loxford struggles with its identity and moral compass as it recovers from the world-shattering events of World War 2. In an attempt to restore the old-world order of the town, local autocrat Lady Billows and her morality police committee unknowingly cause a personal revolution within a young man, Albert Herring. Declared the town’s only remaining vestige of virginal ideals, Albert is pronounced and crowned the Loxford May Day KING! But there is more than what meets the eye in this unassuming, rule-following lad. Influenced by his war-hero friend Sid and his girlfriend Nancy, Albert longs to buck off the reins of his overbearing mother, find some adventure and break a few rules.
