Join the search for the UMD Symphony Orchestra’s next featured soloist. In the first round of this exciting competition, UMD School of Music students perform concerto excerpts or concert pieces for an independent jury panel. With each round of the competition, the field narrows until the final round, when a winner and runners-up are announced.

About the UMD Symphony Orchestra (UMSO)

Through its committed and polished performances under the baton of David Neely, UMSO is dedicated to the power of musical communication. In its repertoire, the orchestra explores the intersection between traditional symphonic masterworks and marginalized works from various eras, with many programs featuring composers of diverse backgrounds.
