The talented student recipients of the Jim Henson Fund for Puppetry will perform/present their funded projects.

The School of Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies hosts an annual competition and recipients are awarded funds to create a puppet project or performance. The Jim Henson Fund for Puppetry was established by Jane Henson '55 to honor the memory of Jim Henson '60, creator of the world famous Muppets.

Presentations include:

Purple by Rain Aman
This is a quasi-true story based on Rain Aman’s memories as a child in Harare, Zimbabwe. When overwhelmed with school, she went to the place where she sought refuge at lunch—the far tables that were cocooned by large trees, a place where she could find her imaginary friends that spoke through the bodies of the campus peacocks.

PUSO by Carlo Antonio Villanueva
Carlo discusses his experience of making his first marionette puppet.

[Dark] Waters by Deja Colllins
"Dark Waters” is an immersive audiovisual experience that explores the struggles of finding inner peace while coping with an anxious mind. This project explores the relationship between sound and media as an expression of my personal struggles with anxiety.

Armanduet by Tristan Koepke
Tristan Koepke uses robotics technology to create a new collaborator, Armando. Armando and Tristan explore themes of hauntology, presence, and the inevitable uncanny valley. Special thank you to John-Edward Draganov.

Christina Robson
Christina Robson constructed a delicate bird-like creature from a collection of natural elements sourced from Greenbelt Park. In a brief demonstration she will discuss the process of construction and share some manipulation ideas as she attempts to bring her creature to life within a landscape of projection and recorded sound.
