This year's NextNOW Fest Alumni Music Commission will showcase the works of Indian-American composer Asha Srinivasan (DMA '08). The program will be performed by Inscape Chamber Orchestra. Srinivasan is Associate Professor of Music (Theory/Composition/Electronic Music) at Lawrence University. Her works have been recorded by Ablaze Records, Mark Records, Beauport Classical and SEAMUS CD Series. Her composition Dviraag was recognized as winner of the Flute New Music Consortium competition in 2015 and the Ruam Samai award at the Thailand International Composition Festival in 2011. Other credits include the BMI New Music Commission Competition, Flute/Cello Commissioning Circle call for scores, the Walsum competition, the Prix d'Ete competitions and ASCAPlus Awards.

Srinivasan will be writing a new work for flute, clarinet, violin and cello to premiere at NextNOW Fest 2019. While on campus, she will also serve as a guest lecturer in the School of Music’s Theory & Composition Colloquium and interact with current composition students.
