With a diverse menu of string quartets, solos, and a cappella, UMD School of Music students celebrate the compelling voices of women, African-American, and Latin-American composers—voices that, as of today, remain all too unheard despite extraordinary individual accomplishments. Music by Javier Álvarez, Gabriela Lena Frank, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Florence Price, Caroline Shaw, and UMD’s own Pablo Salazar, will be brought to life by an energetic cadre of young virtuosi.
