Agyeiwaa Asante ’18 is a Ghanaian-American playwright based in the Washington, D.C. area. Her first play, SWIRL, was presented at The Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival before going on to the Watermelon One-Act Festival in 2019, winning “Best Production.” Her next play, HELP WANTED, premiered at the Silver Spring One Act Festival. She has also been a featured playwright at the University of Maryland’s Fearless New Play Festival. Asante is a local dramaturg, assistant director and actress. She is currently the Literary Assistant at Round House Theatre and a member of D.C. Dramatists.
Join us for the premiere of a [untitled] MARTYR project. This multimedia performance welcomes you into a purgatory that's become all too familiar: The Zoom Room. In a world where we've come to value life more in death, four individuals must consider what it means to put a value on a human life, especially their own, for a world not built for them.
