Summer Employment Opportunities

Each summer, the National Orchestral Institute + Festival and The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center hire young professionals to gain valuable work experience in various festival jobs. These range from fellowship opportunities to internships and festival administration assistants.  Please check back often for updates through the spring.  

Summer Assistants

The National Orchestral Institute + Festival hires a number of summer assistants to work in various capacities alongside the festival's full-time staff. Summer Assistant opportunities will be posted on a rolling basis.

Music Librarian Fellowship

The Music Librarian Fellowship at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival is designed to provide experience and training to emerging library professionals already possessing some prior library experience. The fellow will work closely with the Festival’s head librarian, conductors and faculty to prepare professional materials for rehearsal and performance. The fellow will also work with staff at the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library on archival projects related to the National Orchestral Institute collection. The fellow will supervise a library intern.

Summer Internships

Interns at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F) assist with festival operations and administration to gain valuable artistic and administrative work experience in one of four areas: orchestra librarianship, stage/personnel management, community engagement and marketing/social media. Interns will be selected to work in one of these primary focus areas and will be responsible for meeting established deadlines. Additional work experiences outside of these primary areas may be assigned.  Interns are responsible for submitting a weekly log journal of their experiences and a reflection paper at the end of the internship.
