Program Notes:

Hear the breathtaking aural spectrum of orchestral percussion when UMD percussion professor Dr. Lee Hinkle and his mentor, percussionist Robert McCormick, are featured soloists in Baljinder Sekhon’s new work, Double Percussion Concerto for Two Solo Percussionists and Wind Ensemble.

Hinkle, who has been recognized for his artistic flair and rock-steady style, is a leader in the now-generation of solo percussionists, and a champion of new music for his instrument.

UMWO’s program also includes the Maryland premiere of Music for Wind Orchestra (no strings attached) by Andre Previn, an arrangement of Sigur Ros’ Ara Batur, and Richard Strauss’ Suite, Op. 4.
