DANCE²: Moving with Screens + Machines Symposium

ABOUT THE EVENT

DANCE²  is a dance installation about human-robot interaction and our collective feelings about technology’s influence on the future. Audiences will use their smartphones to interact with the performance, influencing the choreography of the human and robotic dancers. Through their choices, we will explore the question of whether emerging technology is bringing us closer together or pulling us farther apart.

School of Music Fellowship Ensemble: Terrapin Brass Quintet

ABOUT THE EVENT

The UMD School of Music launched its first-ever graduate fellowship brass quintet, Terrapin Brass, in the Fall 2021 semester as a way to further showcase its esteemed brass program. Now in its second iteration, the group presents a recital of brass works and transcriptions in this performance, Ascension, featuring works by Bozza, Bach and more!

Prince George's Philharmonic Season Finale

ABOUT THE EVENT

Join the Prince George’s Philharmonic on May 19th when we will present our 58th season finale!

The program features violinist and National Sphinx Competition winner Annelle K. Gregory in a performance of Glazunov’s romantic Violin Concerto. The program opens with Wagner’s festive Overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and closes with the ever-popular Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov. You will not want to miss this blockbuster finale!

Chamber Music Recital #3

ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Semesterly chamber music recitals showcase students' creativity, initiative, collaboration and agency through the unique medium of chamber music. This recital will feature a broad range of styles and repertoire presented in a fresh, lively way. Part 1 will take place on May 7 at 10:30 a.m. and Part 2 will take place on May 9 at 10:30 a.m.
