ABOUT THE EVENT

The Piano Division of the School of Music is proud to present exceptional young UMD artists from an array of degree programs at Steinway Hall in New York City. In collaboration with The Clarice Smith Performing Center and using Steinway’s SpirioCast technology, this performance will be Simulcast from Steinway Hall into the Gildenhorn Recital Hall, allowing audience members in New York City and College Park to experience the same performance in real-time. Using a Steinway Spirio, a 21st-century incarnation of player piano technology provided by Steinway Piano Gallery, two pianos in two separate locations will be played simultaneously by the same pianist with remarkable fidelity. The piano data is synced with video, allowing the audience members in Gildenhorn to both hear the piano and see the pianist in New York as if they were there.

Join us for this special performance, a look into the future with broader access to music education, instruction and audience engagement!
