Program Notes:
Some of the most groundbreaking and iconic pieces of the 20th century were written in 1923. As conductor Michael Votta observes, “It was a very good year for music.”
In their final program for the fall semester, UMSO and UMWO join forces to perform these works, including Sibelius’ lyrical Symphony No. 6; Milhaud’s jazz-influenced ballet, La Creation du Monde; and Stravinsky’s uniquely scored Octet.
