Dedicated to the commissioning and performance of music by living composers, professional chamber choir The Crossing explores ways in which to expand choral writing. With more than 100 commissions, the ensemble has received two Grammy awards for “Best Choral Performance” for recordings of works that elevate dynamic compositional voices. In this special project, twelve composers address what “Carols after a Plague” means to them: an exercise in perspective, in experience, in histories that are widely and at times wildly different, emerging with a new collection of deeply personal musical ruminations on our battered, resilient world.

New commissions for “Carols After A Plague” written by:

  • Leila Adu
  • Alex Berko
  • Samantha Fernando
  • Vanessa Lann
  • Mary Jane Leach
  • Shara Nova
  • Joseph C. Phillips
  • Nina Shekhar
  • Eric Whitacre
