NextNOW Fest 2020

NextNOW Fest Y2K20
Where creativity, community and chat rooms converge
September 8-12, 2020
Free, all virtual!

Welcome to a time when chat rooms, AIM and blogs reigned. When social media meant MySpace, Friendster and Xanga. When you burned mixCDs instead of streaming playlists.

So much creativity and community was expressed online in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. 20 years later, in this mid-pandemic world, we’ve chosen to protect the health and safety of our NextNOW Fest community by taking all of our creativity and community-building online–again.

This September, we invite you to enjoy all of NextNOW Fest’s workshops, performances, artist talks, live DJ sets, visual art exhibitions and more, all from the comfort of your own room. Most events are open to all and do not require registration.

ABOUT NEXTNOW FEST

NextNOW Fest is an inspiring experience that celebrates imagination, creativity, and community. By amplifying the voices of intriguing, inventive artists from around campus and the country, NextNOW Fest creates a forward-looking microcosm where art shapes and transforms our future.

Traditionally held each September at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland, NextNOW Fest provides a student-driven space for UMD students to build community, interact and create together. The festival is presented and produced by The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and is co-curated with students and campus departments.
