2020-21 Season Updates

Access. Resilience. Belonging.

Dear Friend of the Performing Arts at Maryland,

Against the backdrop of a world that is still in the midst of twin pandemics, a global virus as well as a much needed reckoning around racial justice, we stand firmly in our commitment to keep the physical safety and mental well-being of our community at the forefront. Throughout the summer we have been exploring opportunities that best support our UMD campus, the local community and artists. We remain dedicated to bringing thoughtful and timely work to our audiences in accessible ways that inspire us all to keep creating.

As we look toward the fall, here are a few updates:

  • We are working with both UMD students and professional artists to develop a range of exciting and innovative digital engagements including livestreamed performances, artist talks, film screenings and panel discussions.
  • You will also have access to a variety of events from our archives.
  • We are not planning to have any in-person events for the general public through the remainder of 2020.

And while we are looking into opportunities for those on campus to use our space to connect, we also hope to build a sense of belonging with events like our newly envisioned, virtual NextNOW Fest. We are thrilled to kick off the year with this annual welcome for students that celebrates imagination, creativity and the arts at Maryland.

We will reach back out to you in the coming weeks with additional details for upcoming events.

Thank you for your support!
