Ahamefule J. Oluo is an award-winning musician, composer, writer and stand-up comic. His sister, Ijeoma Oluo, is a New York Times bestselling author and acclaimed public speaker. As black-identifying, multi-racial siblings raised in Seattle by a white single mother, the siblings’ lives and careers have straddled racial lines and artistic genres--exploring the nuances of race, culture and how we treat each-other.

Dive into the difficult waters of race, politics and art with the Oluo duo as they tell the story of their origin.

From toxic masculinity to cultural appropriation to multiculturalism, The Clarice’s 2019-20 visiting artists are complex, provocative and deeply sensitive. Arts Citizenship Talks (ACTnow) are opportunities for audiences to hear from these artists on activism around the issues reflected in their work. They are an invitation to act now!
